A New Hope - Disney Buys Lucasfilm

Disney just purchased Lucasfilm for 4 billion dollars. Holy freak crap! I cannot even begin to explain how unbelievably excited I am!!

I admit I'm a little sad to see Lucasfilm as a subsidiary but on the plus side there is so much potential. Star Wars as a franchise has, at its heart, the possibility for the greatest storytelling. The problem with the Prequel Trilogy in my opinion was the direction and thought processes - not the story or the world that it inhabited. I've never hated the prequels but at the same time I don't love them.

Some tiny, tiny, small part of me is worried but the emotions that are currently making my hands shake a little bit is hope and joy. The Empire Strikes Back is my favorite movie of all time. There will now be more movies in that same franchise! Don't let the general negativity of the internet bring you down. Within the DNA of the Star Wars franchise lies the potential for another Empire Strikes Back. That is worth celebrating!!!

It has also been released that Star Wars: Episode VII is planned for 2015. We're getting a new Star Wars movie boys and girls and that kind of makes my week!!

Dinsey acquired Marvel and we got The Avengers. Imagine an Avengers treatment for Star Wars!!

As soon as I calm down a bit I'll put together a more thorough article but I had to get my excitement out somewhere!!

A New Threat - Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 4 Thoughts

Episode IV of the Star Wars Saga ended with A New Hope on the horizon. Not so much for The Clone Wars. The fourth season has wrapped with the second part of the finale, Revenge, which aired last Friday March 16th. I finally got around to watching the last episode and I wanted to weigh in on my thoughts about the season as a whole.

The Fanboy Menace - Star Wars Episode 1 3D Review

Star Wars is a franchise that needs no introduction. Beloved around the world, the films tell the story of a family navigating a galaxy at war. By design, the actual plot is simplistic, and archetypal. What a great many people actually fell in love with was the worlds that Star Wars took us to. Unfortunately, that’s what many fans forget along the way.

Star Wars is On the Horizon this week!

That's right folks, at long last Star Wars is coming (hopefully) to a theater near you! My local theater is getting Star Wars Episode 1 The Phantom Menace in 3D and I purchased the first two tickets in the entire city to the midnight premiere. I was 12 the last time Episode 1 was in theaters and I distinctly remember being taken by my dad. The circle is now complete, because this time I'm the one taking my father to the show. That has a wonderful symmetry and makes me really happy.

In other news, I am responsible for a huge event taking place at work this coming Saturday that I'm freaking out just a little bit about. I'm going to be responsible for feeding and taking care of 240 some very important guests. I really hope it goes well and I don't choke on my own tie or anything.

In other other news I'm kind of hoping for some more concrete rumors about the next Apple press event. The iPad 3 is expected out in March and the announcement is rumored to be later this month. I want to see what the iPad 3 has to offer but I doubt that I'll be getting one. What I want now is a MacBook Pro and I'm hoping for a product update and maybe a wee bit of a price reduction as is typical of Apple events.

In final other news I have a very important, potentially huge meeting tomorrow. I'm not going to spill the beans yet (for those FrogPants fans out there, I'm going to pull a Johnson), but if it goes through there will likely be some changes to the site and another time sink for me!

I had a wonderful week last week. In all honesty it was one of the best weeks I've had in a long time. Here's to this next week being even better! Cheers!

Light's End

There are very few things that could be said to be infinite or near infinite: light, space, time, the wait for Star Wars: The Old Republic. Thankfully, one of those is about to come to an end. Early Access for TOR is slated to start (as early as) December 15th, five days in advance of the 12/20 release date, a mere 16 days from this writing.

As I've mentioned elsewhere on the site, once upon a time I was a huge World of Warcraft player. By far the best aspect of my time in WoW was spent with my guild, Warguard on Shadow Council. In short, I'm wanting to get the band back together, make a new band, and then quit music to explore that galaxy far, far away.

Six Horizons is issuing a call to arms. Anyone who is planning on playing a Republic character is more than welcome to join. We'll be playing in the U.S. west time zone on a Role Playing server. I don't have a charter or formal description written just yet, but the guild will be largely social based. I'm sure we'll do some raiding (Operationing?), some PvP, some questing, but at the end of the day I just want to build a great group of people who enjoy being in each other's company.

The guild is named Light's End, and is currently accepting memebers on the SWTOR site, http://www.swtor.com/guilds/279832/lights-end. If we can get a couple more people who have pre-ordered the game who have not yet joined a guild to join we will be ready for pre-launch deployment. If we don't get around to that, it's not a big deal, we'll figure everything out on launch day.

Look for my profile on SWTOR.com, I'm under the profile name SixthHorizon. Or if you'd prefer leave a comment, or email me at james@sixhorizons.com and I'll get you added to the guild. I'm really excited about this and hope that anyone who is interested will consider joining us!

A Long Time From Now, In a Game Not That Far Away - Star Wars: The Old Republic Preview

Star Wars. Easily among the biggest, most influential and most popular intellectual properties of all time. Seems like a prime candidate for a Massively Multiplayer Online game right? Well, hopefully second time's the charm.

Opinion: Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 4 off to a great start.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars is getting up to full steam with its fourth season, dubbed Battle Lines, covering the expanding impact of the Clone Wars. Fans can expect big action and ever more impressive production. The premier episodes depicted a stunning underwater battle on the planet Mon Calamari. Episode 4 takes us back to Naboo in a very familiar and entertaining fashion.
